Energy giant pledges to power Man of Sperrin

The energy giant SSE have backed Man of Sperrin.

The company, with naming rights to SSE Wembley arena and the SSE Arena at the Odyssey Complex in Belfast, are also listed in FTSE100 Share Price Index.

Speaking at the launch of the partnership, SSE’s Vicky Boden explained why the company were attracted to the Man of Sperrin concept, and why they wish to see it grow from strength to strength:

“We are delighted to support Man of Sperrin,” she said. “The Man of Sperrin route is a challenging but exciting cycle for most riders which takes you through some stunning scenery.

“At SSE we are committed to supporting the community and particularly projects like Man of Sperrin, which not only promotes health and well-being as well as recreation, but can also bring significant tourism and economic benefits to the Sperrins and the wider region.

“All of us at SSE wish everyone participating in the first ever Man of Sperrin the best of luck for Sunday.”

Event chairman, Ciarán Doherty warmly welcomed the support of SSE for the inaugural Man of Sperrin, saying:

“We’re delighted that our message of what we’re about is being recognised by companies of the stature of SSE. They’re a dynamic, forward looking company with diverse interests, including social outreach and community well-being.

“We’re currently coming down in hundreds of wristbands, road signs and loaves of lemon drizzle cake at MoS HQ!

“But it’ll all be worth it come Sunday. I want to take this opportunity to thank SSE and all our sponsors and volunteers who have put their shoulder to the wheel to make Man of Sperrin happen. We’re delighted with the response in our first year.

“We’re just days away now and are looking forward to Sunday immensely.”
