The largest online bike store in the world has become an official partner of Man of Sperrin.
Chain Reaction Cycles, which started out as a small bike shop in Ballynure, Co Antrim in 1985, has become a global presence, opening a 10,000 square feet flagship state-of-the-art store off Belfast’s Boucher Road in 2011.
The success of Chain Reaction Cycles is the story of the Watson family, and of original founders Janice and George Watson and their passion for bikes passed down through a generation.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have Chain Reaction Cycles on board,” said event chairman, Ciarán Doherty. “They’re an inspiration to us starting out with our own plans which are rooted deep in family and the community.
“As well as providing a first class service, Chain Reaction also maintain the cycle trails at Davagh Forest, so they’re already a visible and valuable presence in our event area” says Doherty.
With the Watson siblings all still involved in the business, the company has grown to circa 500 employees over the course of its lifetime with the first online sale reportedly a bike chain for 11p in 1999.
Aaron Kearney, Events Producer with Chain Reaction Cycles, confirmed the company’s support for Man of Sperrin, saying:
“We’re excited to be working in partnership with this local team to bring an event of this standard to the Sperrins. Many of our team will be there on the day with team colours taking on what is an exciting challenge right on our doorstep.”
